Running a Group Through the Pirates' Den

WHO DO YOU NEED?

A tank, a handful of hitters (bludgeoners can be especially useful), a shooter of some sort, a mage and a healer or three. A druid or vials of Detect Invisible are invaluable, as well as a cause mage or a "New Scroll" (or black potion) for each party member so they can recall out of each dead-end branch of the den.

WHAT DO YOU TELL PEOPLE?

Make sure the tank goes 3 agg and the hitters go 2 agg. Then get the entire group to go wimpy 0 so that no one kills themself by fleeing in pirate-induced fear and thus die in a death trap. Have descriptions off to help the healers know who they are healing.

HOW DO YOU GET THERE?

From the French Beach hunt Redbeard and then go s,s,w,w,w,n,u,u,n,u,u,w,w,n,wait on the tunnel collapse and then tell the group to go west, north, east or south depending on what part of the pirates' den you wish to run.

Note The pirates' den requires a group of six to 10 people and rarely should be run through solo unless you are very confident that you can handle it.

IF YOU GO WEST:

You will face ghost pirates that frequently warcry and can cause your tank to flee in fear and end up dead in a slay room. Always check exits before moving. Make sure tank is at 0 wimpy after each fight. The shooter should be enchanted with Detect Invisible. The westside captain uses a blinding flash.

IF YOU GO EAST:

You will face undead skeleton pirates that are vulnerable to blunt beatings but highly resistant to piercing and slashing. You will need the sustained breath spell or skill. Basically follow normal shoot to clear procedure. Do not use choke or headbutt.

IF YOU GO NORTH:

You will face living pirates. Basically follow normal shoot to clear procedure. The shooter should be enchanted with the Detect Hidden spell. Be sure to have someone go get the key and scroll from the bones after the rush room. After the second rush room you will meet the two deadly captains, who are very good at knocking your tank unconscious.

IF YOU GO SOUTH:

You will face living pirates and a bit of jail time. The shooter should be enchanted with the Detect Hidden spell. The captain Blackbeard lies this way and is one of the toughest opponents on LegendMud.

LEAVING PD - To leave PD, recall, go 2e,2d,s,2d,s,3e,3n,w,6n,e,n,4e,2n,4w,n,u,n,w,open w,2w,2n,2w. Never hunt into PD or out of PD as you will DT.

History of the Caribbean pirates

Led by Mssr. Levasseur, the boucaniers of Hispanola and Tortuga, or Turtle Island, held off many attacks by the Spanish Navy. The boucaniers were not always bloodthirsty pirates. They were originally French and Dutch colonists that hunted the wild cattle on Hispanola and smoked the meat on wooden frames called boucan. Eventually, these islands became a major trading post selling the smoked boucan to sailors for food supplies. The native Carib Indians intermingled with the French settlers. The practice of vodoun is still common today in Hispanola which is better known as Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Originally developed as a guerrilla tactic by the slaves seeking freedom from the French Plantation owners, vodoun remains an integral part of the political system. Vodoun was a mix of African religious practices and Christianity that serves as a religion and also as a cover for the use of drugs.
